Giles Named 1st Team All GCAC

The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) has named Spring Hill College women's soccer player Allison Giles of St. Louis, Mo., to its 2009 Women's Soccer All Conference 1st team.  Lara Menke, Jade Beason, Abby Galen and Sarah Uptmor were also named to the All-Conference 2nd team.

The Lady Badgers' lone senior during the 2009 campaign, Giles started all 18 matches for SHC this season as a defensive player and team captain.  She also scored two goals including one game-winner.  Under her leadership, the Lady Badger defense turned in five shutouts this season.

Junior Lara Menke from Washington, Mo., scored three goals with one assist for seven total points in 18 starts.

Beason, a junior forward from Cincinnati, Ohio, led Spring Hill with five goals scored and added an assist for 11 total points in 15 matches played.

A native of St. Louis, sophomore forward Galen scored two goals with three assists in her 18 starts to tally seven total points on the year.

Freshman midfielder Sarah Uptmor from Cape Girardeau, Mo., led Spring Hill this season with seven assists and added two goals-scored to tie Beason for the team-lead with 11 total points in 16 games played.
