Badgers take home seven 2014 ICAA post-season awards

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Spring Hill College softball team earned seven awards from the Independents Collegiate Athletics Conference (ICAA) following the 2014 season, including Co-Coach of Year and Pitcher of the Year.

Head coach Alison Sellers-Cook was named 2014 ICAA Co-Coach of the Year along with Kimmy Bloemers of Palm Beach Atlantic. Sellers-Cook led the Badgers to a 42-14 record and the ICAA regular season championship. Sellers-Cook is 221-228 in nine seasons at SHC.

Sophomore Caroline Segrera of Baton Rouge, La., was named the 2014 ICAA Pitcher of the Year with a 38-11 record with 46 complete games, 17 shutouts and 435 strikeouts in 276 innings for a 1.01 Earned Run Average (ERA).

Sophomore catcher Sam Leach of Axis, Ala., junior shortstop Shea Blanchard of Breaux Bridge, La., junior third baseman Lea Kittrell of Lucedale, Miss., and freshman left fielder Jenna Charnock of Mobile, Ala., joined Sagrera on the 2014 All-ICAA roster.

Since 2004, the ICAA has given recognition to schools of independent status at the NCAA DII level. Softball members are Bluefield State, Oakland City, Palm Beach Atlantic, Spring Hill and Union.
